Development Session Information
From a social standpoint, participants will meet new people, build new friendships and share the overall training experience.
The Soccer Assist Academy development programme is a hub for developing talent from all levels and backgrounds. The aim of the programme is to stretch each individual and develop the core skills and foundations required to become a modern day footballer.
Each programme runs for 5-8 weeks in line with the school term and within each half-term we arrange development fixtures or tournaments to implement the practices being taught in game situations.
Joining a development programme should be seen as an extension to training with your club team as between the ages of 11-16 this is where a large part of your technical foundations will be built. We encourage players of all ability levels and diverse backgrounds to come together to create a vibrant learning environment with a high level of intensity.
There will also be new topics added periodically throughout the year
The various topics we cover during the development program.
- Ball mastery & 1V1 flair
- Speed, power, agility & quickness
- Ball striking & finishing
- Counter attacking & defending
This topic is all about allowing the player to express themselves. The modern day footballer is confident in tight spaces, good in 1v1 situations and has bravery to try things. This class will include activities that encourage ball manipulation, improving your first touch and working on ways to beat your opponent.
The demands of a modern day football match requires you to change direction, speed and be agile. This class will include practices that will focus on improving your footwork, coordination and explosiveness, so you are able to meet the demands of a game.
Understanding the appropriate technique to use in the situation is important. In this class players will discover how to strike the ball using various parts of their foot, the different types of shots and how to choose the appropriate technique for the situation.
You often hear the word “Transition” and in modern day football this means the ability to do both, attack & defend. This class is designed to cover speed of play in the key moments of a transition, so players understand what to do in overload/underload situations.
