All things football at the Soccer Assist Academy.

As our Football Academy aims to mirror a professional environment, we offer our student-athletes 3 training sessions per week, delivered by UEFA level coaches. A competitive game schedule that involves marquee fixtures against the likes of Luton Town FC, MK Dons, Lincoln City and Cambridge UTD.

Entrance to the FA Youth Cup, National League U19 Alliance, Tactic League and Southern Counties Floodlit League, allows all Soccer Assist athletes the opportunity to compete within the highest standard of youth football outside the professional game. Our players not only benefit from the level of competition, but also have access to video analysis, strength and conditioning sessions, nutrition and health advice, and an onsite physio; all the tools to succeed!

Additional opportunities

  • Marketing opportunities – Puma boot testing, Exclusive Adidas Glitch events and brand photoshoots
  • 1st Team Football – Pathway for Academy players to compete in the first team at Non league step 5 club, Newport Pagnell FC

Playing Philsophy

Coaching

Our coaching syllabus is centred on our Academy pillars and vision. Ensuring that these messages and objectives are reinforced everyday.

Values

‘The Leader’ and ‘The Match winner’, we encourage the individual development of each player through a structured training program, whereby they can excel within the framework of the team. Our coaching team will create an enjoyable and challenging learning environment in which all types of players can flourish.

Teams

Our teams will play with an emphasis on high tempo, possession based, attacking football that looks to dominate the midfield third and will focus on forward passing, forward running and forward thinking wherever possible. We are always the hardest working team and physically imposing.

Creators

We play with as much depth and width as the game allows, providing our attacking players with space to create. We play at a tempo, and maximise counter attacking opportunities to ensure our opposition always feels under pressure. We are ruthless in the final third committing numbers into the box and finishing attacks with crosses and shots.

Match Winning

Out of possession we show outside in all thirds of the pitch, defending man for man in wide areas with total commitment and aggression. We defend with a compact organised shape, where possible with 10 players behind the ball. We encourage our forwards to be our best defensive players trying to press the ball as high up the pitch as the game allows. We require our defenders to be our best attackers by playing out from the back where possible and providing midfielders with quality possession from which to launch attacks.

Competence

We want all our players to be competent in tight areas and develop match winning skills. They must develop good game understanding in possession, out of possession and in transition to enable them to solve problems, manage a game and coach their team mates. Our football philosophy is all about principles of play and positional responsibilities that remain constant but can be implemented through different formations and systems.

Extras

  • Individual qualities and 1v1 attacking skills
  • Football intelligence and good spatial awareness
  • The ability to make decisions and keep possession when under pressure
  • Good understanding of effective defensive and attacking set pieces
  • The patience and confidence to be ‘on the ball’
